The appropriate equipment size for the given heat load is the biggest factor in determining the lifetime of your equipment. Too small and the unit tries to work too hard and wears prematurely. But too big can be equally damaging for equipment as it can cool an area very rapidly and therefore cuts the compressor in and out far too often and also leads to premature failure.
